Great Comparison, Mike. Obviously, imaging has come a long way in that time. Nevertheless, your 1984 shot is remarkable because, back then, we couldn't just look things up on the internet, or order a CCD camera online !
What you were doing back then would have been very advanced, and way beyond the reach of most amateurs at the time. It's great that you have stuck with astronomy all this time.

Anyways, nice stars in the core ... have any of the stars moved noticeably between the two shots ?
