This was taken at the Heiwa no Hikari, or the Peace Illumination Festival in Itoman City, Okinawa (site of the final fight in the Battle of Okinawa at the end of WWII). It's actually a very tall monument draped with strings of lights. There are supposed to be 1,300,000 lights at the festival, one for each person living in Okinawa. It's pretty spectacular, I must say. In fact we may brave the long drive, heavy traffic and nightmare parking again tonight just to see what we missed last night since I spent so much time trying to take pictures :-).
