Working at night as the allies attack, resistance members, male and female, of all ages often operating alone, work to support the allied effort.
(W C Vandenberg....The concept of the image came to me when MFC came up with the candlelight idea. I have a great interest in WWII and especially the Normandy campaign. The first image that popped into my mind was of a resistance fighter reading a map by candlelight in carrying out a mission. So, I thought, why not try some kind of re-enactment of this. There is a canal in DC...the C and O canal a bit reminiscent of the Caen canal...so I thought that should be the context. You may recall that July 1944 was when the British intensified their assault on Caen...so the idea began to take shape. In this study I kept PS to an absolute minimum....just the searchlights and the distant fires...though it took a bit of work to get it right with such little light)
