Apples in a Basket
by

I took this shot while at Longaberger Homestead in Frazeysburg, Ohio. The apples, of course, are artificial but the basket is real.
It was hand-woven out of hardwood maple and stands 29 feet tall (including the handle).

Thanks everyone for your comments; it's so much fun getting comments! And yes Melanie it's a very big basket. It's supposed to be the world's largest real basket (slightly over 29 feet tall with a 19 foot base diameter). It was hand woven out of hardwood maple in 1999. The luscious looking apples were added sometime later.

Very nice capture - the colors and lighting are great! Your photo looks quite a bit better than the ones on the Longaberger website.

Wow Zahid, you didn't miss anything and I especially agree that the guy in the red sweater was very helpful here. Because you were so observant, you win the "Red Apple" award for this month :-) Seriously, I always love getting comments from you; they're always complimentary and often include helpful suggestions. Thanks again, very much appreciated my friend!

The basket is impressive. The apples definitly look real. The sky is good.Shoot! but hold on you must have a live model to show the height of the basket ... Yes Sir, inclusion of model and that too wearing red sweater has made all the difference and credit for this incusion goes to you. Well done Sir, its an amazing image!

Yeah, I don't know what the apples were made of but they do look real. The sky is original as well, not something I added (I could put a prettier sky in than that) :-) Anyway, glad you like the image Mike.

Wow, bottles, they certainly look real...that is amazing. Sorry I misunderstood you. Unique and very well captured. I wanted to add that I think the sky is really nice here too and adds to the quality of this photo. Still nice work and a wonderful photo for this challenge :) Thanks for the link and the info. MFC

Thanks Mike, but I didn't put the apples there :-) They were already there and I suppose they have been for years. You can find several pictures of this basket on the web, here's just one example (link below).

bottles, this is a beautiful and unique basket...& you've really enhanced it for this challenge with the addition of those apples. The apples look so natural there...and with perfect clarity and lighting. Nice work...and a wonderful photo. MFC
