I just didn't have time to do it properly...I'm not terrible aware of all the processing... just starting to learn... so ,what you ment, is to selct the "s' turn it and put it back on the back ground..? I don't know how to do these different layer things...anyway I'll give it a try , when I have time. I'm very glad to get suggestions and to learn more! So thanks again, bottles....

Barbara, I guess I didn't explain very well. What I meant was to rotate the "S" on it's background (so it would be more diagonal), not the entire background :-) Sorry for the confusion. Also, I thought it was jewelry of some sort, in which case a little rotation would probably not distract from it. If you want it to look like an S, maybe it's best to just keep your original. I found your experiment an interesting one anyway!

Thank you for your comments Katherine and bottles...

http://www.pbase.com/stfchallenge/challenge_121_demoI have folowed bottles advice and put it in the demo folder....
I have put it actually in that angle, as I wanted it to be a letter... "S" instead of a hook, when upright , it' s just a hook.... About the blur, I just don't know...your opinion(s) are welcome...
cheers Barbara

Good entry for this challenge Barbara! I agree with Katherine, the simplicity is nice. If you'd like to experiment with the image a little, maybe apply just enough Gaussian Blur to reduce the harshness a tad. Apply the blur watching the shadows and stop when they're smooth (a radius of about one pixel should do it). Also, you might try rotating the image to the left or right just a little so the S shape isn't perfectly vertical. Try about 17 degrees counter clockwise for example to see if you like that better. Of course, all of this is just a matter of personal preference but it never hurts to experiment, you might find something you like better. Very nice image in any case!

Very nice high-key image - I like the simple composition!
