Firehouse!*
by Justin Miller

Walt Disney World, Florida

One of the coolest looking fire stations I've ever seen. This is in the Reedy Creek fire district, inside Walt Disney World Florida. I had seen it often, and always wanted to shoot it. After spending my last two weekends at Disney, I finally had the chance driving home one windy night from the park to stop off, set up the tripod alongside the road, and photograph it!

I like it, I like it, I like it! I like all the minor corrections you did. Much better in my opinion.

Very interestiing subject well captured, Justin. I didn't see the original, but I do like this version, whatever you did to it. Helen

Thank you all for the help!

Much better - my biggest nit with the last one was the fountain lined up with one of the flag poles - having it separated is so much better! ~ gaurav

Wooeee what an improvement Justin; you're very good at post processing! I liked the image to start with but now I think it's absolutely cool! I mean really cool! Very nice work!

OK...you guys are good! I think I had to get my mind around parting with the 800x600 crop, and try a 6x4 crop instead. That lets me get rid of the foreground, still get enough width for the whole firehouse, do a little perspective correction to straighten the left edge a little. I ran some noiseware on the sky to smooth it a bit too. I like the 6x4 crop better. Thanks again for all the help. I've been putting those asterisks on my entries every time, but rarely get any feedback...this is the kind of stuff I like!

This is a very cool capture Justin - I can't add too much more than what the others have mentioned but they shoulf be pretty quick fixes. Thanks for sharing! ~ gaurav

I like the vivid colors you've captured in this image, Justin. There are a lot of interesting elements to look at in this photo; the tack sharp building, the blurred flags, water coming out of hose, the building design, the bright red against that blue sky, etc. All in all, this is beautiful and interesting photo. (*) A couple of things bother me a little bit though, first is the noise in the sky and the second is the seemingly leaning of the building towards the right - I know it's not but the wide angle shot kind of distored the left edge of the building. Both minor issues can be remedied via post processing.

Yeah, I think that's a better shot Justin. Boy, that is some fire station! :-)

I was fighting with that too! I didn't like all the dead space at the bottom...but it was the cleanest shot of the 3 I took because the wind had died down.

I switched to the 2nd shot, with the water blowing a bit more, but much less wasted space at the bottom. Thank you!

Wow Justin, nice shot! That really is an unusual fire station, thanks for sharing this one. The fire hose, with the water shooting out, is so clever of them. Very well captured and a great entry for this challenge. *I'm wondering if it would be even better with less foreground. You might want to experiment with cropping some of it off; I don't know that it really adds anything to the image.
