I always worry that people will be creeped out by my medical images. Not anymore. -john(ebones)

Creates an impression of horror and nastiness -- which is what it's supposed to do. If the image were TOO realistic, we'd react differently. I suspect that because we can detect the fraud when looking closely, we are greatly relieved! This is a photo that does the job it set out to do, whether because or inspite of its technical limitations. Good work. Eric Hatch

LOL.. Good point :D The blur adds to the realistic feel of the image. -Arn

Arn, if you had just chopped your own toe off would you be able to hold your camera steady? :P

The concept is inventive, but the ketchup is too thick and the image is too blurred. Also, the breadcrumb doesn't look enough like a pinky... :) -Arn

Well that certainly looks like a lot of ketchup there, too thick to be blood. :-) Interesting idea, would reshoot this with better lighting and red colour mixed with water instead of ketchup (or add water to it to make it more runny like blood). Cheers.

I dunno, Jeff. It feels really creepy, but not so much the fun kind of creepy. --Nancy

There was no blood on that cutter. A mistake? :-)

i don't quite know what to say here. you say no human was hurt but then you say "i cut it off." which is it? -- andy

Mike. I cut it off. My first thought was ouch! I looked down. My second thought was "darn".

Jeff, are you sure nothing was harmed in the making of this photo? It sure looks gruesome and realistic. What really happened to the baby toe? MFC
