Mark and MFC, The blue glass was lying on its side and directly lit by sun coming from a window. I just noticed it one morning and played with it for a bit. The texture is from a coarse white cotton duck fabric where the sidelighting emphasized the texture. Thanks for the comments. Joe Sukenick

Mark, I realize this effect is likely due to the "image orientation" (portrait orientation)....but I'm curious if it is not. Either way, I think it's a great idea here. MFC

MFC, I suspect the glass is actually laying down on the counter / surface, not actually standing up as you are thinking :-) As for my comments... what can I say that MFC did not already say? Welcome to the STF Challenge :-) Mark J

Joe, by using a smoked glass, bright light, and a simple background, I think you really dramatized all the lighting effects here, esp the shadow & reflective elements. I like the simple composition... and the contrast between smoked glass form and the "lightly" textured background too. Nice photo, Joe. PS...the glass seems suspended withinin the scene...is that your image orientation or something else? MFC
