I really like this kind of gargoylish things on top of roofs. Simplifying the scene with exposure and contrast like you've done here is and efficient way of doing it.

John, I love your creative crop/comp here...it really draws maximum attention to the roof details, especially those watchful critters. The blank, open sky-scape greatly enhances your comp choice and keeps the whole scene as simple as possible. Nice architectural details...effective in B&W too. Well taken! MFC
