"...From Atlantic to Pacific..."
by Deb Kees

..."Gee the traffic is teriffic!" (from "No Place Like Home for the Holidays) I think
someone's had too much Christmas cheer. I've always thought the word "terrific"
should have been replaced with "horrific."
Little did I know when I took this picture, I would be in the car for another SEVEN hours. I
left the house around noon to have lunch and did not return until almost MIDNIGHT. An
unexpected sleet/freezing rain storm led to many stranded motorist across the midwest.
I was very fortunate because I had filled my gas tank the day before and so had plenty
to sit in traffic. Think it might be wise to add a book, or handheld game to my car
emergency kit.

The nightmare part of the season. Nicely captured, Deb.

Great capture of the holiday traffic. Wow,seven hours - that's intolerable! We were having freezing rain before I left WI, but I waited to leave until the roads were okay. From the looks of that mess, I'm glad I went through Lousiville instead of Cincinnati.

Great shot of holiday madness on the road. I would have gone absolutely out of my mind!

Good shot, too. I really like the way the brake lights pop out. I like that sinister smear of smoke up the middle lane, too. Gives it the added accent of what it was like to be there.

Really a main part of the holidays in many places! Important to show this also! I was more lucky to simply stay home.

Clever idea, Deb...I love how you captured the glistening, icy feel to the road...and the feeling that there's going to be a big delay here. We should all take note and learn from your experience...think I'll amend that emergency kit too :) Good idea and well taken! MFC
