Helen....you may have a point. Perhaps it is because I instantly recognized it that I thought Shades of the Ryuku Kingdom had been posted in other challenges. My apologies. I do in fact use it for my desktop occasionally.

For a true photographer, one of the greatest pleasures is to have an image that can get a lot of mileage. How many would like to have images like Ansel Adams that act as if they are the energizer bunny. Seeing an image more than once is a good thing while it continues to bring pleasure to the viewers. Like a good song, you don't want to be limited to a single hearing, or the savory potato chip, you don't want to eat just one ;-) - Shay

Well, Andrew, "Shades of the Ryukyu Kingdom" was on the main page of photoSIG in June 2002, which sparked a subsequent discussion on STF as to editing techniques. It is also in my personal PBase and Webshots galleries under a different name. I don't believe that I've ever entered it in an STF (or any) challenge. If that's "a lot of mileage," then I guess I should be flattered that so many people have seen and remember the image. Helen

Yep. Shades of the [sic] Ryukyu [sic] has indeed been seen before, but so what? This is in large part what the Exhibition gallery is for -- to share ideas, techniques and results and, overall, to allow some some worthwhile airing for images that are simply nice to look at (do we always have to think in terms of out and out competition?). You'll almost always find "recycled" pics in Exhibition, but let's not forget that there are always newcomers dropping in to browse. A superb effort from a full year ago took top Exhibition honours in the Christmas Decorations Challenge, and deserved to do so. And I don't recall a hint of objection from anyone. -- Mike

Shades of Ryuku sure seems to get a lot of mileage. Kind of like usuing the same report in more than one class, don't you think?
