another tuffee - no more old outfits to play with..tried to find the mini skirt shots...but could not find them easily, because the pictures were so tiny....we came a
long way in keeping memories indeed....the other shock was to realise that
the majority of people and animals in the pile of pictures have been gone to
the other side....

photo is from around 1969 ,the time of wonderful flare jeans and slender
silhouettes (mine)....visiting as a journalist the government building in
bonn/germany....the picture was taken by ludwig binder, the photographer
i worked with....he could have never imagined the his shot would be seen
by many people in the world....big smile...he died 1980 - you can see some of his work

thank you for sending me deep down the memory lane:))

very appropriate song for the time frame:

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=X5pkkAhETYg

Once upon a time, there was a tavern
Where we used to raise a glass or two
Remember how we laughed away the hours,
Think of all the great things we would do

Those were the days, my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we'd choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way

Then, the busy years went rushing by us
We lost our starry notions on the way
If, by chance, I'd see you in the tavern,
We'd smile at one another and we'd say

Those were the days, my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we'd choose
We'd fight and never lose
Those were the days, oh yes, those were the days

Just tonight, I stood before the tavern
Nothing seemed the way it used to be
In the glass, I saw a strange reflection
Was that lonely woman really me?

Those were the days, my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we'd choose
We'd fight and never lose
Those were the days, oh yes, those were the days

Through the door, there came familiar laughter
I saw your face and heard you call my name
Oh, my friend, we're older but no wiser
For in our hearts, the dreams are still the same

Those were the days, my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we'd choose
We'd fight and never lose
Those were the days, oh yes, those were the days

Yeah, the flared jeans were in fashion in the late 60's early 70's..... I remember when I was in 9th grade, wearing my first pair of army navy bell bottom jeans and that was in 1972.......but the flower power, the colors everything about this shot screams out the 60's! The heyday of rock and roll!!!!! You look really cute here!
cits_4_pets11-Dec-2008 05:56

Hi Sabine,
A truly terrific image and so wonderfully put together. A rare and beautiful work of art. \/
through_the_lens11-Dec-2008 04:07
Excellent colors and layer work... well done
Sabine Stetson11-Dec-2008 01:58
no, you are probably right...probably 68/69/70..
but then i dont recall that we really had hippy stuff in berlin, like in SF - more light influences from england in fashion and (strong) music, make up (colored eye shadow)...my coworkers at the paper did wear hot pants and long coats at one point..but that was pretty outrageous and not common...but another coworker reviewed "melanie" concert at that time and was totally smitten with her after it...so somehow the time is right...have picture of an opening of a psychedelic dance club with great fanfare of the press in 68...oh, well...
even being young, i also was always a pretty "tame" and dreamy person..not into the latest fashion, if i remember right...but its all so long ago and very few people are left to ask, if they ever cared or still do...big and slightly feable smile....thank you for rattling my brain:)))
BleuEvanescence11-Dec-2008 01:32
You look simply adorable...
but i thought this was more like in the '70...
i could be wrong ;)
Lee G11-Dec-2008 01:11
A very cool look back to the fashion of color and fun from the heyday of hippy wear!
