When we first moved to the Island in 1994, it was described by one of our neighbors as "living everyday in a vacation environment." She was so right. The Island and the lake provide a quiet, beautiful retreat from the congestion, traffic and hassles of northern Virginia, as well as many opportunities to shoot digital pictures that others would have to travel far to obtain. The fall pictures in this gallery were recently taken from my dock, kayak or pontoon boat. The other pictures were taken over the summer and early fall while boating or kayaking on the lake.
