that's a tough call as they evoke two different moods...this one seems more about scale, yet the other has a dramatic intent with the man running...either one is great

Both are outstanding! But I do prefer the crop.

It is a fantastic piece of architecture. I prefer the tighter crop.

If I hadn't seen the other I would have thought this was perfect.

I think both images have their place! You know what I said about the other. This I like because of the 'triangles' - both roof peaks, and the line from each peak through to the man - leading to a point of convergence with the stairs somewhere off in the distance, probably spot on at Lady Macquarie's Chair ! The central smaller peak dominates, but that is an easy fix to dodge the left peak framework a little. I'm a square formatter, as you know, but I like this composition format. Horses for Courses. Mixed grill. Chop and Sausage. :-)

Beautiful work! Love the tonal range with rich blacks throughout the series, of which this is marginally my favourite - though if we are into photo-critique here, I am a little distracted by the creeping dark shadows at left and right. ~V~

Well, I guess it all depends on your intent. The cropped version emphasized the running man whom we see clearly as cresting the stairs with the peaked dome off to one side. Here, the building (stairs) dominates, the man harder to find. But the building doesn't exhibit quite a strong enough force to command our attention - it's divided into two small looking A frames, without much visual impact. Hence, I like the first version - more story. (Nothing I wrote was meant to offend - hoping you were looking for constructive comments.)
