So, the plan was that the final two of us on the trip would go to Indonesia but the flight prices, which we didn't bother to even look at until about a week before we went, were outrageous so we decided to go to Burma, but this of course meant getting a visa for Sareh. Which meant getting her into a country with a Myanmar embassy. In a flash of genius, after being refused a visa by the Thai consulate in HCMC, it occurred to me we could go to Malaysia, a nice, reliable Muslim country, and get the Myanmar visa for both of us in KL.

It worked.

And, Kuala Lumpur proved itself to be a very nice city, despite my memory of it (largely negative) from my 2002 trip. Didn't take many photos though. We were busy getting stuff done, rather than sight seeing.

In Burma, we spent a lot of time at the Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon, one of the most beautiful places on earth. We had what I would call a whirlwind tour of Bagan, which was absolutely empty this time (over the winter, when i was there, it was packed with tourists), and then spent a couple of days in Mandalay, chillin with the monks.
