Stephen I suspect this is actually a lycid-mimicking lampyrid. Did you take an underside shot? I've found quite a few lamp/lycid mimics in my area of Ecuador. See: http://www.flickr.com/photos/36494393@N00/sets/72157626257191734/with/9148972697/
