Firefly larva, Photuris sp. (Lampyridae)

Bellavista Cloud Forest Reserve, Prov. Pichincha, Ecuador

Most firefly larvae are predators of soft-bodied invertebrates. Photuris larvae are omnivorous, as seen in this flower-feeding individual, which was spotted at night by its glow.
