My mother grows the most incredible hydrangeas that I have
ever seen. She has four gigantic (taller than me) shrubs
which produce these watermelon size blossoms in prolific
numbers. In contrast to David Barrett's pink hydrangea's,
all of the hydrangeas that we plant here in the Pacific
Northwest (even if they start out pink), eventually turn
this lovely shade of bluish purple. The color variation is
caused by the alkalinity (not sure that's a real word folks)
of the soil.
If it seems a bit odd that I am not presenting you with a
brilliantly detailed macro shot here, it is because I am
trying to test/learn a new lens. This Tamron f2.8 28-75
came very highly recommended as a super sharp portrait lens.
So far, I'm not really impressed. That being said, there has
been a learning curve for me with every single new lens that I
have purchased... so I will continue to play with it for a
while ;)
