I remember seeing this in......1970? Was it the red ratafia or the cherry brandy your ladyship wanted?

I hope he made a mint, too, Suzanne. Maybe he could afford the surgery he apparently needs.
Sorry. Nice photo.

Plus des points for you, Lee! Jean Baptist Poquelin (aka Molière) was much revered at Syracuse's drama department. I didn't know going in, but Restoration period works were their specialty. I spent much of my time in the huge skirts with a variety of period corsets, bustles and bumpers underneath. (Bumpers are lighter weight alternatives to bustles.) Ah, to be back in a time when we had to add onto our hips to be in style!

Poor Poquelin did eventually die---coughing---from the strain of playing the seated character, Aragon, and after only a couple performances.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Le_Malade_imaginaire

However, the guy seated in the photo playing the lead, Aragon, is Jack Feldman, one of the funniest people I ever knew. He went on to write the signature Barry Mannilow song, "Copa Cobanna." I hope it made him a mint.

Poquelin would approve. Between bout's of coughing I'm sure he would applaud and give a sitting ovation.
2 thumbs up!
