With it's lyrical shape, the Kousa Dogwood flower is
an elegant subject for visual meditations on growth.
The apparent petals are actually special leaves, or
bracts, that serve the tightly bunched crown of buds
at the center. These will open as the spring progresses
to reveal tiny yellow flowers. Eventually brilliant
raspberry shaped fruit will ripen in their place.
