Thanks for asking, Isolde. These piggies live on a working farm museum. It is a restored facility that recreates farm life in the 1890s on the American Tallgrass Prairie.

This is where the pigs stay during the day when people come to visit. In the evening they are taken to a large hay-filled stall in a nearby barn. The food trough is at one end of the pen, while a big water barrel with a dish-like opening is available at the other end. It keeps the water up above the piggies' feet.

The pen is elevated some 20 cm off the ground, with room between the slats that make up the floor. Piggie pee and poop is extremely smelly, so several times a day it is hosed away from the the pen itself and collected for composting. In the summer, the pigs enjoy being sprayed along with their pen. It was quite clean when we visited shortly before the public visiting hours were over for the day.

Where are those piggies living?? It looks like it is a balcony or terrace! :)
