The sheep with her head sticking out is not stuck. I checked to see if she needed help, but she didn't. Instead, she is cooling off by lying in the damp mud. The other sheep were very hot. They were clustered together in a tight bunch, panting heavily. It sounded like a very quiet car engine. A little while later, one of the sheep had enough and wandered back into the pasture. Then the rest of the clump followed behind. It seems that it had not occurred to them that they would be uncomfortable in a bunch like that. But soon the whole pack was back, huffing away. The little mud bather shifted to another damp spot, but she was definitely an independent thinker!
