Powered by remnants of Hurricane Ike, record levels of
rain fell on Chicago and its suburbs on September 13, 2008.
While the 6.68 inches (17cm) registered an all time high since
record keeping started in 1871, in some places more than
8 inches (20.3cm) fell within 24 hours.
