This shot is taken early in the morning of the first full day. In fact, it was my first Sunrise shot of White Sands on that trip. If you ever get a chance to do White Sands in the morning (you have to pay to have a Ranger open the park) DO IT. It is great. A moon lit walk following the trail of hikers looking for virgin snow. A great time. A REALLY great time if you have lots of water to work with as well.
