THE VIEW FROM HERE

I am testing out this new camera to see if I want to keep it or
return it. I was looking for a little pocket camera for those days
that I don't want to have to schlep the 20D. I am not sure
I like this one though. Does anyone have any suggestions for a
little pocket camera that has a lot of zoom ability?

ADDENDUM:

Thank you for the suggestion of dpreview. Yes, I read there
religiously, but that doesn't help any when I am obsessing on finding
the perfect pocket camera that does everything my beloved 20D does!

I'm not sure that pocketibility and big zoom go hand-in-hand other than the S1. But I have to tell you, I am THRILLED with my new Powershot Pro 1, which is not a lot bigger than the S1 (smaller zoom though and no IS). Rumor has it though, that a new S1 (S2?) will be announced soon.

I have a Canon S50 which maybe is even old technologie, but I can say having a little pocket camera readily available is wonderful. Many of what I consider my best shots came off that.

Wonderful. The fences almost look like musical bars.

Great scene. I use a Sony 7.0 megapixel at work from time to time not sure of the model. I've had some other Sonys that seem to be good out of the pocket. Herbert's right though.
Maybe use the 20D and get bigger pockets?

Should I say I thought this was from the 20d?

When you find that magic camera -don't- tell me, please.

There is no pocket camera that will do what your DSLR does.

I'm not up to date on the latest, however my Pentax Optio 550 has 5.0 zoom and does a super wide angel. 5.0 pixels too. It is almost 1 1/2 years old there must be something even better. You know about DP Review? Right?
