The mighty Forth Rail Bridge, king of all bridges, resplendent in its new coat of paint after years of being masked by scaffolding and tarpaulins is finally revealed in all its glory. It is an amazing feat of civil engineering on a huge scale. Work commenced on its construction in 1883 and was completed in 1890. For 100 years continuous painting meant starting at one end of the bridge and working through to the other end....then moving all the kit back and starting again. In 1998 they embarked on a more long lasting maintenance programme which means it shouldn't need repainting for 20 years. Time will tell, but at last it is an unfettered photographic subject once again.
