RT, they had a station every 8 to 12 miles where they changed horse. The trail station were near water; so, the trail doesn't always take the most direct route.

Such open country still today... How did they do it..riding cross country sometimes for days without seeing another soul... Nice to see the openness ... Thanks Bill...
