In storage since the early 70’s. This is now a very rare 69' Porsche 911S BOSCH MFI fuel pump, and rarer to find in this condition, the pump came from the old Vasek Polak parts inventory. If in fact it was used, I can't tell just by looking at it.

There are two versions of the 1969 911 S MFI pump, an "Early" (001) and the "Late" (005) model, both pumps were designed by BOSCH to deliver and meet the demands of the higher performance 911 S engine for that model year. Unfortunately, these pumps were only made in 1969 and the subsequent Mechanical Fuel Injection pumps were redesigned to meet lower emission standards making them less desirable in racing applications.

UPDATE - After paying a call to our friend "Gus" at PFI, he confirmed the factory did produced two different versions of the 1969 911S MFI pump, the "early" 001, and the improved "late" 005 designation. The early 001 pumps, as the first available had some fuel metering issues with 'back-firing" as one of the symptoms the factory was trying to correct. The Porsche factory (actually BOSCH), while in the process of solving the injection problems, no less than 3 different space-cams were subsequently designed for the 001 version of this pump. Ultimately, the final design and improvements culminated in what we now know as the 'late' 005 version of the MFI pump (the same one I found in my garage). Incidentally, anyone with a 69' 911 S early 001 version of the MFI pump should have it checked and upgraded to the improved specs of the 005.

Regarding the question I had about the compatibility, etc. of the 73' 2.7 RS MFI pump 019 and the 005, per Gus, these are vastly different with the 019 using a wider space-cam and too many other internal differences to even begin to mention. THE 2.7 RS MFI PUMP 019 WILL NOT WORK TO A CORRECT RSR PUMP CONVERSION http://www.early911sregistry.org/forum/showthread.php?p=261893#post261893

This pump would be ideal for someone needing the correct parts for a 1969 911S restoration. By the way, if you need a 911 RSR MFI pump, this is the 'choice' MFI pump for a 911 RSR pump recreation. The 69' 911S MFI pump was at the time, and today the "high-performance" pump required for the RSR conversion (it is absolutely NOT the same pump as used by the 1968, 1970 or later year 911S, 911E or 911T model cars).
