Basically this is a demonstration to show the types of torture that is allegedly going on to people that practice Falun Gong in China. Supporters are trying to have government officials prosecuted for their role in the torture with the assistance of the U.S. At this point the U.S. has not supported them.

I stumbled onto this site with the search for dali lama. Reading all the comments, I am compiled to leave a thought. I’m not sure if anyone will read it as the last comment was left on 2004.

Regardless of what you believe, would you agree that every country has the right to make its own laws?
Would you also agree that when entering a country you are bound to that country’s laws?

Example
Some countries recognize gay marriages, and some don’t. Can a married gay couple entering a country forbidding gay marriage demand the same rights or freedom as they had in their own country?

I don’t know what FLG is determined to do, but they are determined to do something! No group/groups hold weekly (regular) protest - you might say they want CPP to stop torture of FLG. If you read carefully, it’s ‘alleged torture.’ No one has concrete proof or evidence, it’s all hear say.

I recall hearing a case where a student on a trip to Singapore from US or Canada, had graphitized a wall and was sentenced to be caned. There was an outrage that the punishment did not fit the crime. As much as the family pleaded, the sentence was carried out, because that was the law of the country.

Frustrating, life can be. I have been in China now for 8 months and will be here for 8 more. I see so much and so little and everything goes so slowly with people often used just like the forrest and coal.

I'm from Belgium. I practice Falun Gong since June 1999, and it has indeed made me more peaceful and healthy. All people that I know worldwide that practice FLG are nice people, and just wish for the persecution in China to end asap. There's nothing political in that.

I am a Chinese, who is a son of peasants and lived in China for 30 years. I believe that FLG is stupid and has no ration in their doctrines at all. However, tortures exists at any corner in China. One example. Everytime the government arrests or kills human beings, many people, including small kids, are gathered to see their "Sentencing Meeting". There people are supposed to see how badly the ones who are going to jail and the the ones who are going to hell can be treated. The prisoners are in tight ropes, they can hardly move, or breath, even before they are going to be killed! This kind of meeting still lasts in many places in China. Another example. The officers in my village robbed away large lands for their factory. Some villagers demonstarted to the government. The villagers who demonstrated were finally caught by the government and shut for some days. They were free after paying a huge fine, but they lost their land, for nothing, and forever. Another example. I once saw, by my own eyes, that the soldiers caught and threw a young man into a car in Tiananmen Squrare. The soldiers were chasing people away because the government had a meeting nearby. Te young man was caught only because he showed sympathy to the people who moved not quickly as the soldiers required.
Another example. Once I left Beijing for hometown, inside the crowd trying to get into the train, a policeman, who was supposed to keep the order of the railway station, used his high voltage electric bar, beated me hardly. My arm and back were hurt, for nothing. However, it is painful to me forever.

Asking them to stop torture is as asking a tiger to give up meat.

Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance. That is what Falun Dafa is all about. Try living one day just like that. You wont be laughing in sarcasm but in happiness.

I laughed out loud seeing these pictures.
I know there are some "cults"( If I may call them) in China. Memebers are usually middle aged housewives who worry too much about their natural physical decline. Take my auntie for instance, who joins one of those cult and belives that she receives the univeral force by listening to the cassette she bought. (the cassette tape is overpriced as you can imagine). I can't believe one can cure her illness by saying prayers.

Dear $0.02, I do not mean to turn this in to a cat and mouse game. I respect you're opinion, and realize that you will hould true to what you believe in.

I just think it is a shame that people interpret, and classify falun gong as
somthing political, or money driven with a hiden agenda, and ruin it for the rest of
those who don't know what falun gong is raly about.

Falun Gong is purely self cultivation. It is a way of reaching consummation, just as Buddhism, or Chirstianity, or Hinduism, or Judaism...ect. And its root principles are
based in truth, compassion, and forbearance.

Only one self can find out whether it is true for you or not.
No matter how big the lies about falun gong are, take a real look you're self, and don't
fallow the tide of negative news and plagued propaganda.

Dear Rumi, to be influenced by propaganda does not mean to be forced to believe in something. Successful propaganda does just the opposite: it convinces you of something by misportraiting truth, and you believe their rhetoric out of your own will.

Those are some good questions you asked - which could be answered by something you later quoted straight from my previous comment - that the FLG changed their religion to fit new needs and new environments outside of China.
There is no organization with an absolute objective agenda. Sorry to disappoint, but that rule even applies to HRW and Justic FTW.

Perhaps you have your terminology confused. Being Chinese does not mean I'm living in China , and therefore according to your logic/assumptions, subject to a Chinese government propaganda.
I refrain from specifically discussing my background on an internet message board, but suffice to say that since a very young age, I've received a simultaneous American and Chinese education and upbringing. So I've see BOTH sides, since before the crackdown all the way until now. And as a logical, reasonable human being, I'm merely stating my beliefs in the hopes of shedding more light on this subject matter to those who might not have had the same access to the situations and information I've experienced or learned.
I see that you feel very passionately about this subject, but no number of exclaimation marks can force me to retract my own reasonings.

And Politics!!! What politics, go and read the book Zhuan Falun. No where will

Yes!! people are demonstrating agenst the Chine's Government, and they should.
The miss justice to the people is horrible. Just look at the many nations who are

It is very difficult for people in China to see the truth. But fact after fact, and case

Why is Falun Dafa practised freely in the whole world, while in China the government forbids it?

Why is truthfulness compassion, and tolerance seen as something good in the whole world, but in China the government inforce the police to arrest, imprison, and torture people who are simply trying to live by truthfulness, compassion, and tolerance?

Why do the millions upon millions of Falun Dafa practioners within China, and abroad resist the governments ban on Falun Dafa, and continue to practise?
Because they are upholding a principle of this world, to be truthful, to have compassion, and to have tolerance. This is something nobody can take away from anyone, and why in the world would anyone want to forbid such a good thing?

Why are people in most countries around the world actively protesting against the persecution of Falun Gong in China? Isn't it because the people of the world see that peacefully practising truthfulness, compassion, and tolerance is something good!!

Why are there numerous lawsuits filed thourough the world against Jiang Zemin, and other members of the party, like Bo Xilai, Luo Gan, Ding Guangen, Zhao Zhifei to name a few?

Why did the House of Representatives unanimously pass H.Con. Resolution 304. on October 4, 2004, which clearly states the oppression by the Government of the People's Republic of China upon Falun Gong practitioners?

These are all clearly pointing to the historical, and unacceptable acts which the Government of the People's Republic of China are carrying out, and have been carrying out for the last five years.

With a rational and logical mind, it is impossible to ignore the atrocities occurring in China right now, regarding the peaceful practice of Falun Gong.

sickening to know that it is happening behind closed doors, behind closed eye's, and
closed hearts. Do you think that people in many countries around the world would just
partake in these anti-torture exhibitions for the fun of it, or to express "sob stories".

Well do you think that Amnesty International a reputable organization is lying when

In response to Tami's question earlier: Yes, FLG practitioners do have ulterior motives for these demonstrations, "by using religion as a political tool."
How? They're seeking political amnesty from the US government. By being classified as politically persecuted refugees, these FLG practitioners can gain legal entry (or retain legal residence) in the US and receive a little extra boost in applying for American citizenship.
Of course this does not apply to the American citizens (or citizens of any other Western country) whom Chinese FLG'ers overseas have converted by taking advantage of the formers' kind hearts, open minds, and interests in Qi Gong.
Would I personally classify FLG as a cult? Definitely. So does the Chinese government. But when it comes down to it, classifications of religion really doesn't matter does it? Many years ago, before the Chinese government crackdown on FLG, the new religion was spreading rampantly in China. Li HongZhi (ex-factory machinist and founder of FLG who claims to be a direct reincarnation of Buddha) published many books, a few of which I skimmed out of curiosity. To this day, I cannot believe the ridiculousness of his claims. But he was ingenious to take advantage of an "emptiness" in spirituality experienced by many Chinese during this confusing transition from planned to market economy.
FLG was started by Li as a means to generate a source of income for him. He went around the country claiming to cure illness simply by patting on people's backs for instance. A sham doctor in short. The tickets to his speeches generated lots of money, not to mention the massive amount of books, other publishings, meditation mats... the list goes on.
Some practitioners took his teachings to heart in a very serious way. Most psychologist would probably classify them as delusional. Soon some practitioners forgave medicine and proper medical care and only practiced meditation. Some became so tranced that their families were ruined. I've known a handful of people who were in that situation, although none of them practice it anymore (after a painful period withdrawal not dissimilar to heroine withdrawal).
After the Chinese government crackdown, many practitioners saw this as an opportunity to seek residence in the US, Canada, Australia and Europe. To generate buzz for their cause, they've engaged in massive propaganda, including acting out supposed tortures by the Chinese government on the streets of Chicago (yes, I'm talking about the above pictures.) They've also recruited a new batch of Western practitioners by changing their religion to fit its new environment. Their emphasis is now on proposing FLG as simply a form of "meditation". Westerners are now joining because they are curious about Qi Gong (for the record, FLG is NOT a form of Qi Gong), are concerned about human rights in China, or are sympathizing with the practitioners because of their sob stories. Their attention-seeking propaganda is sickening to watch.
For those of you wondering, yes, I am Chinese. Skimming through some of the comments made me angry and sad at how Westerners easily misconstrue what is going on in China based on biased information in Western media. I encourage all of you, including Tami, to take a trip there sometime in your lifetimes, and see with your own eyes what is really happening in a country with 1/5th of the world's population. Yes, for the 2008 Olympics too if you like spectating sports.

Hello to all, I just whant to share my thoughts about Falun Gong. I come fom sweden and I do practise Falun Gong, I am not Chines and most of the people practising here are of swidish nationality. I just would like to say that befor 1999, this peaceful meditative practis was widly spred as a matter of fact up to 100,000,000 were doing it. there were no police, there were no palitics, there were no tortures, there were only people training peacefuly and silently. And for the most part trying to be a good decent member of the society.
For any one how actualy looks in to what Falun Gong realy is, the answer is realy quite simple, its just that NOW when its being Persecuted people slap the term Political on to it, and completely miss the point.
What is Falun Gong? As I understand it its about Self Coltivating, simple.
There is no warship, there is no ceremonies, there is no money, it has nothing to do with polititics.
There is however the wish to be an honest kind person, and in evey situaltion try to make the best of it.
The core root of Falun Gong is to live one's life through Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance.
Is there anything negative one could say about that?

These Anti Torture Exhibitions or purely demonstrating the complete, and tragice miss justice that thousands upon thousands of people in China undergo, and has nothing to do with China as a Culture, but with the Peoples Republic of China. Which is miniscule in comparison to the long history of Qigong in China.

I like your gallery, it may not be fake blood, but just think about when was the last time you saw a FaLun Gong member actually doing some real meditation and studying some real scripture instead of saying how poor they are getting beat up in China and asking for help to people who are not totally aware of the situation in the US, making it look one-sided and freedom as a platform. All they have are pictures of them being mistreated, because they are nothing but a group using religion as a political tool and if you look deeper they don't have much substance.

hi,tami. I am surprised that there are falun gong's demostration pictures on PBase.
lifes in China maybe suffered, but the pix are just too disturbing for most of ppl
like me, we are from China, and we love our country, seeing all these makes us heartbreak.
Althought everybody has right of free-mind.

We want everybody here to see more of how China is a beautiful
country rather than the horrible pix here.

If you found that all your family member become obsessed with FLG, even become to adore
the creator of it, you would doubt the purity of it.

Several years ago, my friend, who was a FLG follower, discussed with me and said:

"Please read the book. Read it loud without hesitation. Once you have read it more than
6 times (sorry, i forgot the number, but the number is at least 5), you would find the
book reveals the truth. But at the very beginning, dont doubt the authority of the book"

If a book reveals the truth, it doesn't need that reader should go through it like that.
That not only one FLG followers told me that they even saw something spectacular from the
book. Then I believed that they were not READING the book, they are just controlled by the
ideas which have been read tons of times withough any doubt in their mind!

Even if the book doesn't contain anything bad, the way they advocate how to read it makes
me disgusting.

Why weren't there any real pics of the Aktion Reinhard death camps available during the 21 months that those extermination camps were operational in 1942-43? Why did we only see pics after the war?

Maybe because the SS Einsatzgruppen didn't allow any to be taken? Of course that's why.

Do you actually expect the Red thugs to allow photos to be taken of the Red thugs torturing dissdents?

Whether or not they were authentic, I don't know.

If these pictures are trying to say something, I would only say the make-up is good, though as another Chinese student pointed out the costume of police is not correct.

Here is my point:
These pictures, though eye-catching, CAN NOT prove anything. Those blood scenes may
cause more caution to a regular rational guy before he or she keeps looking at them.

As you said, the pictures were taken in Chicago. They are not documentary, not at all.
I have to keep asking why there is no REAL PIX available?

2000 Murders statistics

Canada - 582
England - 728
U.S. - 16,204

Tami - great gallery, I have followed the Falun Gong saga for many years and have great sympathy for their followers as victims of brutal oppression.

I'm not going to comment on the politics of gun ownership, etc - but I do want to let you know that while England/Wales have very few homocides due to firearms each year, and a low overal homocide rate (1.41 per 100,000 in 1997) there are still a great many more than 10 murders each year as you stated. With a population of 51,429,000 in 1997, I calculate this as about 725 homocides in England & Wales in 1997. Still, per capita, much lower than the US (at over 5 per 100,000 people) and many other countries. Interestingly, these statistics haven't changed dramatically since the stricter gun control began in recent decades in England.

No, I proved you aren't working with a full tank of gas.

The cops in England don't carry guns, you can't get much more lenient than that.
There aren't any reports of torture but their crime rate is low. They have less then 10 murders a year in the whole frickin' country. That means you do not have to resort to torture to have a low crime rate.

In Chicago, like the rest of the U.S., the cops carry guns. There are reports of police brutality, which is a form of torture. Prison is no picnic, you can be raped, beaten and murdered by other inmates. The state of Illinois has the death penalty. Has that convinced criminals that crime does not pay. NO! They still continue. Chicago alone has over 700 murders a year. Do you actually think torture would prevent crime if the aforementioned conditions of prison and the possibility of death has not? If you do, you are sadly mistaken.

What is England doing to control their crime, without guns, that the U.S. is not?

The Canadians have not resorted to torture and they can keep their doors unlocked at night.

A Chinese - Since you are in the states and a student, I am just going to assume your were up late studying and tired. You are right about one thing, these pictures were not taken on the mainland. However, they weren't taken in Hong Kong, Taiwan or South Asia - they were taken in CHICAGO. This is an EXHIBITION. I state this at the top of the page. This is not real blood & those are not real cops. They are actors! There is a picture of the makeup used and two pictures of it being applied on the bottom of the page. My intentions were to photograph the exhibit only! I am an African American female, had this been a klan rally I would have photographed it!! The link is there because someone asked what this is. You and others can decide if this is a just cause.

Either you were very tired or me, the actors, and the makeup artist did one hell of a job!!!

Tami, I respect your work and good intention. But these photos are faked!
The police suits showed on pictures are simply NOT Chinese police suits at all! It looks similar. But all Chineses from mainland China can see through it at the first sight. I am not sure if Falun Gong has a just cause or not and I am actually open to it. So do most other Chineses. But these photos are most probably faked in some place in Hongkong, Taiwai or some South Asia island. A seemingly just cause is being pursued by some unjust means. And this is by no means the first time! At best I can say it is some bad pastor who conducted adultery, but the Christian belief itself is righteous. CIA is almighty. That's probably one reason why the United State have not shown much support of Falun Gong.
In order for everybody here to know more about me, just in case, I am from mainland China, not a member of China Communist Party, and currently a Ph.D. student in the States.
