The bulk of the 'plant life' on the hills is spinifex. This is nasty stuff as you need to either wear ankle high boots and thick jeans (which only protects against accidental brushing) or totally avoid the stuff, which is hard. This is a view of a clump of mature spinifex (about 2' across), each 'leaf' ends in a needle sharp spike!
