The Fortescue River is one of the big 4 rivers in the North West of Australia. The others are the Fitzroy, the Ashburton and the Gascoyne Rivers. These rivers are all usually pretty well dry, but they flood big time during cyclonic rains.
See the bits and pieces of trees wrapped around the bridge pylons, this gives you some idea of the water levels and the power of the river when in flood.
The Road Train shown here isn't the biggest you see up here, but I wasn't going to hang around waiting for a 3 or 4 trailer one to go past. As Murphy would have it, one did shortly afterwards!
