Shot from the 7000' level of Mauna Loa mountain, looking across the saddle to Mauna Kea mountain as the setting sun lit up the clouds and lava. Every once in a while you will find a patch of lava that has golden glints in it, as seen here, fired by the sunlight. The intensity of the sunlight at this elevation is a marvel to behold. In the original file size, you can see the Mauna Kea access road swtichbacking its way up to the summit at the right of the image and just near the peak. I can see at least 2 cars on their way up!
