just a clarification for the softness on the right side. I shot this with the kit lens and it is blurry on the right. It seems very noticeable in this shot. It can't be helped.
Sadly, the reason i even took this did not get captured: The setting sun cast a light through the Pines on the left that looked just like pink smoke. It was unreal, i had never seen it before. Must have been some mist hanging right there..and it just surrounded the trees majically. Yes, it was a pretty evening, but one of many, many in the summer where i live. But that pink 'smoke' alighted by the sunset was something i shall never forget-
Thanks for the compliments. Maybe if Sigma Germany reads this, they could send me the print from Photokina in '04?
I am very grateful for Sigma Corp's praise, hosting, and continued dedication to the Foveon platform. I may even buy a better lens!!

This is great. It reminds me of art class in a sorta strange way, if you look at it from a different angle it's like putting paint in the middle of a folded piece of paper, and running your hand across the crease then when you open it you have this crazy but beautiful picture.

Hey, a great image. Nice composition, a couple of questions...

1) does the image seem a little blury to you as well? It could be this monitor but the horizon around the brighter spots seems to be slightly blurred; i would have liked to have seen it in sharper focus, but this is understandably hard to do, especially with the light circumstances that were present..

2) have you considered doing a free transform on the image and rotating it so that the horizon is straight horizontally? You would only have to turn the image probably 3-5 degrees, and then you could crop just inside the borders to capture the new image; arguably, you would lose a bit of the image, and also run the risk of making a possibly blurry image more blurry by emphasizing it with the transform/crop method I have detailed.

But again, a gorgeous photograph; the composition is especially nice because you have good amounts of detail in the clouds & sky work, as well as the nice color changes in the sunset; they worked very well in the reflection of the water, a visually very high quality image; the positioning in regards to the composition is wonderful because you have the imbalance between the left and right sides of the landscape, and that just pulls the eye along the image, almost like an arrow; it leads you either towards the right side of the image into the sky OR the water, and both are very pleasing.

Hope you actually still check this. Very nice piece of work.
