The Hraunfossar Falls (the Lava Waterfalls in english) are clear, cold springs that well up through the lava and run in falls and rapids into the Hvítá River. These waterfalls are sometimes also mistakenly called Barnafossar (The Childrens waterfalls) by some, but Barnafossar are just a short distance from Hraunfossar but the Barnafossar as such are no longer waterfalls.
