Oregon's South Coast Gallery

All but a few of these photographs have been taken either in and around Gold Beach, Oregon, the village near which I live, or elsewhere along the roughly 80-mile stretch that makes up Oregon's beautiful south coast. The bear I photographed on my deck (he spent the summer here), and the deer live year-round at my house-- they enjoy taking apples from my hand. The raccoon is one of approximately 30 who come to the house daily to be fed. Welcome to my world-- I hope you enjoy your visit.

I am an artist and was looking for Gold Beach pictures so that I could do some oil paintings for my son Rick's new restaurant, "The Bridge", located at the mouth of the Rogur River and I came across your beautiful photos. I'm glad that your comment in the Forum gave me a chance to revisit the south coast of Oregon. I was there 10 years ago (in Gold Beach in fact; I used to have a friend who lived there) almost to the day; October / November 1999. I really loved Oregon, and it's unfortunate that I've never had a chance to go back. This gallery was almost as good as doing it for real. (Interestingly it was that trip that really got me started in photography when I came back with some woefully fuzzy shots from an old 35mm compact which was sadly past its prime.)

Shoshanna, I was in Oregon in September 1983, on business. I drove up the Colombia River Gorge from Portland to Richland - to the Nuclear Station. I just adored the amazing scenery in Washington and Oregon, but I honestly did not see anything approaching the wonderful sights that you have captured so magnificently in your pictures. If one's faith in a Divine Creator is ever diminished, I suggest a look at these pictures would regenerate it. Simply BEAUTIFUL. Thank You!! Eamonn, Dublin, Ireland.

All of the west coast is quite beautiful. But the weather there is a diffrent story alltogether, not where I would live.

I grew up 7 miles north of Brooking, live on Cape Ferrelo road until I was 17 years old, fished in Lone Ranch creek, Bowman creek and Whalehead creek and the Chetco with my two buddies. The area is as beautiful now as it was then, 1945 until 1956, although I did not notice any Lilly fields. Gorgeous pictures by any standard thanks for sharing
