Good shots, Sheila. I just people watch, see situations develop, and try to capture that situation in a composition. Or look for character, emotion, movement, street furniture etc to work into the photo. Suggest you look at the Magnum Agency website, study Cartier-Bresson and his school. Hope this helps.

You have the start of a good collection of pictures They would be better if you got in close to the subjects, be brave.

This is the method I use. I only photograph people who are preoccupied in some way. This can be when they are buying produce at street market or engage in conversation. Providing you are quick with your shoots they do not notice. If they do see me they I will go over to them and explain what and why I have photograph them. The why will usually calm them down as this is what has drawn me to them, they may be very attractive or have beautiful hair…you get my drift. I shoot with my camera set at 8 frames per second and auto focus on continuous. This helps with grab shoots.

nice collection so far. appropriate monochrome selection for these shots...made the viewer concentrate on the subject on hand.
so far so good with the start...only suggestion is once you get braver, aim to shoot this type of pics with wide angle lens...to add context of the candids/street shot...include the appropriate environment/surroundings. good luck. :)

I'm afraid I can't give any tips on candid Sheila because this is one of the toughest part so far of photography on my side :o) All the shots you've taken are great. Congrats! :o)

I can't give you advice Sheila, I find them really good! It took me much more that one time to get shots approching those ones in quality and interests, because I was so shy... And I still am, it is still difficult, like John, I must be in the mood for that, feel brave and relax enough to try. I must feel ready to accept the reaction of the person if she/he sees me, feel able to talk, to get contact.

10 out of 10 for making a good start.

I find it really difficult, and have to be in the right mood to be brave/relaxed enough to take candids. The biggest question is always - do you ask permission or not.
