Tasmania the Beautiful

Here are images of a trip we took to the State of Tasmania, a beautiful island off the south coast. Click on image for information. The images of the Gordon River were taken one early drizzly morning but it was wonderful. We had spent the night on a 60ft yacht. Twenty years ago, the Tasmanian Government wanted to dam the Gordon/Franklin Rivers but the Federal Labor Government stepped in and stopped the project.

Hi Sheila, I found your gallery after spending many hours on the internet trying to find an online Diploma of photography course which I could do. After working as a news photographer full time for nearly two years I recently left that behind to try to develop my own vision of the world. I have a long way to go, but looking at your photographs I am so inspired and I know that I can make it happen. Thank you so much for your inspiration.

You Have Skill. i looked at the pictues and they were so well..... Beautiful. you did verry good with some of the forest pictures. especaily the russell falls. it was stunning. the more you look a it the more you appreciate life and mother nature.

Your images are rather lovely and I guess I have the luxury of living there. Sometimes this means I do not see the place as visitors do, but recognize the beauty and variety of areas after visiting other states in Australia. Great shots, well taken with a good eye. I travelled to Tasmania in '99 and was amazed by the diversity of the country. I loved the rainforests and the beaches. All great subjects for the photographer. I'll go back one day. John, UK

What an intriguing place. Once many years ago I applied for a job there and mailed an application from the US by regular mail. It took 3 months to get there, which was long after the job had been filled.
