Hi Shiela. I am a retired police officer in Ireland. I write illustrated historical articles for the International Police Association Journal, Irish Section. This journal is issued free of charge to our members, it is not on sale either publically or privately.

I am currently researching an article on an act of bravery which occurred in Buzancy in France during WW1 in which an Irishman serving as an NCO with the American Expeditionary Force was awarded medals for gallantry by both the French and U.S. He subsequently became one of the earliest members of our police force called An Garda Siochana which was formed upon Ireland gaining independance from Britain in 1922.

I have greatly admired your beautiful photograph of Buzancy taken in 2008 which shows the peace and tranquility which Buzancy and its residents now enjoy, so different from the horrors which befell it during WW1, and the trees have regained their former glory.

I would love, only with your permission, to illustrate my article with your excellent photograph. I would of course give full acknowledgement to you.

If you wish to check my credentials you may do so by going online at www.ipaireland.com then click on "The Journal" and then click on "FINGAL" as that is the title of the column under which I write.

With Very Kind Regards,

Edwin Handcock
