Bodh Gaya

Bodh Gaya is the place where Prince Gautama Siddhartha meditated his way to enlightenment, to become the Lord Buddha. The town is in the troubled, dangerous state of Bihar, but is itself a peaceful oasis of (relative) calm, full of Buddhist monks and monasteries from countries all over the world.

I stayed in Bodh Gaya for Holi, the Hindu festival of colour, when people throw dye over each other. I bought a cheap outfit for the occasion, and managed to keep my camera safe.
