Aurangabad was my first destination after Goa, and it was a good one to chose. I found the town to be a pleasant and friendly place - probably the nicest town I've been to in India, as far as interactions with locals go. I stayed in a round hotel that was great value, and where you could get a massage for 65 rupees! I used it as a base to explore the Ellora caves.
