Located in southeastern Louisiana on Lake Bouef in the wetlands between the Gulf of Mexico and the Mississippi River, somewhere near Bayou Lafourche, the rookery is a nesting ground of tri-colored herons, little blue herons, big blue herons, cattle egrets, snowy egrets, yellow-crowned night herons, and smaller birds such as the redwinged black bird, the king bird, and a few little nests that I did not recognize. Flocks of ibises with their mating colors flaring were in the trees when I visited as well as white faced ibises.
The only way to get to this rookery is by boat and one must be careful because of the floating islands and the tide that changes often.
