On April 9, 2008 the gauge on the Spillway structure measured 22 feet. On June 9, 2008 it measures 14 feet. Only a small trickle is coming through the locks and all of the nesting egrets are wondering what happened to their food supply. On June 5 there were hundreds of egrets and herons in this same spot catching fish in the flowing water.
