This bridge was built in the early 1930's and was the first bridge in the New Orleans area to connect the east and west banks of the River. Before that everyone relied on ferries.
There is a railroad that runs on this bridge and the Huey P. Long is the longest train trestle in the world.
My father was one of the first people to cross this bridge in his Model T Ford.
Strange I should do this photo today on the 30th anniversary of his death.
The bridge was built by and is named for a governor of Louisiana who was assassinated in the State Capitol.
