Located on high ground in "the sliver by the River", this area escaped the floodwaters following the canal floodwall breaches after Hurricane Katrina.
This architectural style is quite popular in the older areas of the City. The wood used is usually cypress and the house is raised on piers. The ceilings are usually 10 feet or more and windows and transoms over the doors allow River breezes to flow through.
