Our Daughter Was Not as Fortunate

Metairie, Louisiana

Her house is under her neighbor's water oak that uprooted in the winds. Of all of our immediate family, she probably suffered the most damage with structural damage to the roof, a foot of water in her house and two feet of water in her garage and storage room. Her beautiful little garden shed was also demolished by a falling tree.
Upon seeing this, the scenes of her and her young son in this house flashed through my mind--her baking his first birthday cake and letting him eat the icing from the bowl; each first day of a new school year as she photographed him advancing to a higher level; her piano and collection of cat figurines and paintings and her many framed pieces of cross-stitching she had lovingly made.
One thing for which I am eternally grateful, she and her son are safe.
