This bridge was constructed in 1902 with funds from a $650 bequest of Miss Angele M. Langles. The stones used are not native but were chosen for the romantic effect they created.
Angele and her mother died on July 4, 1898 when their French steamboat "La Bourgogne" collided with a British ship in the North Atlantic.
Coleen Perilloux Landry retains the international copyright not only for the original image but also for any versions of it.
