Leaving Avondale, LA - Arrived in New York Today

Built in Louisiana by Louisianians

This is the USS New York, built in four years in Avondale, Louisiana, with love and sweat by people of Louisiana who had no homes of their own because of Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, Gustave and Ike. Yet, they put their all into building this ship in memory of those who lost their lives on 9-11.
In all the New York newspaper articles I read of the ship arriving today in New York was there any mention that it was built in Louisiana or the pride with which it was built.
SO, I AM MENTIONING IT HERE!

More details can be found here:http://www.snopes.com/photos/military/ussnewyork.asp. Excellent shot Colleen. Wonder if our guys were providing the security for it as we have a site at shipyards in Avondale.

So cool that it is in NY now. Shows what Americans will do to honor those that we lost.

Boy, the NY Times did not get this new story right. A majestic vessel that LA should be proud and deserve the due credit!

Great photo !!! Think we heard CBS mention that it was built in Louisiana, but then may be incorrect, we try not to listen to the news anymore.

And now so many more will know. It is sad that we allow others to make us think we should be ashamed of our pride.

That's ok. WE know where it was made. Great shot.

Remind the media that there are 49 other states in the US of A!

We saw it also on WGN news today and I don't recall any mention of that either. Good looking ship Coleen, you guys do good work down there!
