| Here is the third picture in our flyby series. Right now I would be wondering why the pilot isn't turning a little tighter to keep us out of that eyewall ahead (on the left side of the photo). This particular flight was one of the last to fly Typhoon Forrest, but not because the storm died that quickly. Actually, by this time the typhoon was heading a little too close to China. We had strict rules about where we could and could not fly (and remember, this was 1983 - still well within the Cold War days!). |
