"The Myth Of Sisyphus" by Albert Camus.
I think this photo precisely captures man's existential fight to reach the top
in a cruel, unforgiving world. Like in the Greek myth, Sisyphus pushes the
rock up the mountain, only to have it crash down on him when he reaches
the top. NOTICE that the sign on the wall says NO ROOF ACCESS. The
symbolism is apparent that even though we may strive to reach the
heavens, there is really nothing there and all is futile. We won't be let
in no matter how hard we try. The letter "B" stands for bottom or basement.
We have to make the most of our existence here on earth because there is
no way up, per se. The pretty Asian woman tries to climb the stairs of her
oppression only to face the harsh reality of her fallen nature.
