My first thought was one of those vertical folder holders for your desk but that is very like a the letter holder Bev suggested. The only thing I can think of is one of those gizmos that you mount on the wall to hold your garden hose but I doubt that is it either.

Regardless, is is a wonderfully interesting shot with great lighting.
